Ruskin Mill is a college for students with learning difficulties and bases its curriculum around the traditional economic activities of the Cotswolds. It has a series of fish ponds which the students use to learn fish farming.
The college holds community days where volunteers can assist with tasks that are unsuitable for students at the college. GVCV support the community days and assist with tasks such as pond clearance.
The fish ponds had become overgrown with reeds which were making the environment uninhabitable for fish.
Volunteers wearing waders used spades to remove reeds whilst leaving in place water lilies which inhabit the pond.
The reeds were removed to the compost heap.
